Christmas... the crowd... the lighting...

Just came back from the Christmas midnight mass in here in Kluang. It was quite interesting that Father Sebastian started the mass by saying “There will be only worshipper here… and no observers. All will participate in the mass.” The message be came more clear during the homily on why he said that at the start of the mass.

He repeated what the Pope Benedict said that Christmas is being polluted. He brought up the example of the lighting in Orchard Road in Singapore. Where there is no mention Jesus Christ ( Ok only C.K.Tang mention about the wise men) in the wonderful lighting along road an shopping. So similarly, we do not come here (mass) just for show or fashion.

Thousand years before Christ was born the prophet Isaiah had mention about the Christ (Prince of Peace …) coming and also along the years before Christ was born many other prophet mention about His coming and many people awaited for His coming. But when He came only a handful of people (and animals) where there to welcome Him in the manger. And Now 2000 year later here and now we have a crowd here. But the crowd can be deceiving. Because not all in the crowd are like the handful of people at the manger, who came to worship Him. Only you yourself can answer whether you are the “handful of the people at the manger” or just following the “crowd”...

I guess one has to ask oneself...Am I the light of the world or just the lighting for a show...?
Merry Christmas
